Experiential room acoustics in a unique congress centre
In Bad Vilbel, a spa town near Frankfurt am Main, the modern VILCO congress centre has been built in recent years. With its contemporary infrastructure and wide range of uses, it is a new centre of attraction for the town. The client opted for innovative MAKUSTIK panels from Akustik & Raum AG to provide the perfect room acoustics required for this.
As a lively spa town near the metropolis of Frankfurt am Main, Bad Vilbel combines various cultural, leisure and recreational activities. Since 2023, the modern VILCO Congress Centre has been added to the existing city highlights such as the important Franconian-style half-timbered buildings. The modern building serves as an event centre for the Hessian spa town and hosts major events and other functions for up to 1,300 people.
Eucalyptus veneers with MAKUSTIK panels for unique room acoustics
The interior of the congress centre is characterised by the warm wood tones of the eucalyptus veneer from muto' GmbH, which is used on doors, wall panelling and furniture across more than 15,000 m2. The veneers have a particularly aesthetically pleasing effect in the Great Hall with ceilings up to ten metres high. Akustik & Raum AG was responsible for the acoustic treatment of all the eucalyptus veneers using the innovative MAKUSTIK panels produced in-house.
Precise perforation and exceptional sound absorption
For Toni Fahrni, project manager at Akustik & Raum AG, the project in the spa town of Bad Vilbel was special for several reasons: ‘The unique architecture in the congress centre proves how versatile the wood species eucalyptus can be used. The fact that we were considered for perfect room acoustics in the building with our MAKUSTIK FeinMikro system makes us proud,’ he says. MAKUSTIK FeinMikro is particularly impressive due to its exceptionally high sound absorption, which is achieved thanks to the most precise perforation in the form of 467,000 holes per square metre.
